MG MOTABILITY SCHEME

Established in 1978, the Motability scheme has helped over 600,000 people claim back their independence by making brand new cars more accessible for those with disabilities.

We have been helping motability scheme customers for over 30 years and can organise the vehicle you need with any adaptations you might require. We can also help finance any advance payment your chosen vehicle may need, please ask for details.

If either you or a family member are disabled and receive the allowances to qualify for the scheme, you could take advantage of accessing a brand-new car every 3 years, removing most of the stress that comes with owning and running a vehicle for a longer period.

Below we explain how the Motability scheme works, including a full price list for the MG line-up, so you can soon be on the road in your new MG vehicle.

WHAT ARE THE FINANCE OPTIONS?

There are three different payment options, and you can choose the one which suits you best.

Nil Advance Payment

Pay nothing up front – simply arrange with your local MG Motability Scheme Dealer to transfer your mobility allowance to the Motability scheme. And, as the government pays your allowance directly, there’s no credit checks or assessments needed.

Advance payment

For more expensive cars, your mobility scheme allowance may not be enough to cover the cost of the three-year contract hire period. In this case, you can choose to make a one-off advance payment to cover the difference. Advance payments are paid to your MG Dealer and are non-refundable.

Polesworth Garage MG can offer to spread any advance payment over various terms, subject to status. Please ask.

Lease for Less

If the monthly cost of the car is less than your disability living allowance or personal independence payment, you’ll receive the cashback to spend as you please. It could come in handy to cover fuel costs.

MOTABILITY SCHEME CAR ADAPTATIONS

Adaptations are a range of devices that can be fitted to your car, typically falling into three categories: to help you drive, to help you stow your wheelchair or scooter and to help you get in and out of your car. Today over 40,000 customers have adaptations fitted to their cars, to make their driving or travelling experience easier and more comfortable.

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR THE MOTABILITY SCHEME?

You can qualify to join the Motability scheme, if you or the person you’re caring for receive any of these allowances: Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS), Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).

Take a look at the Motability website for more info or give them a call on 0845 456 4566 (they’re open 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday).

You’ll need to have at least 12 months remaining on your allowance when you apply to join the scheme.
