Major Service

The Major Service is the defact do almost everything service. This service includes changing the brake fluid amongst other things.
Our Major Service includes the following 70 items:

• Drain engine oil and refill (special or synthetic oils subject to additional charge)
• Replace oil filter
• Check for general oil leaks (report any serious leaks)
• Check for timing belt replacement interval & report if due according to mileage/age
• Check clutch operation for drag/slip/judder/noise and adjust if applicable
• Check drive shaft gaitors for security and report leaks
• Check and top up clutch fluid where applicable
• Check operation of exterior lights
• Check horn
• Check/top-up power steering reservoir where applicable
• Check steering/suspension components for wear and corrosion.
• Check steering rack gaitors condition
• Check wheel bearings for excessive play or noise
• Check shock absorber condition and report on any serious leaks
• Inspect exhaust system inc catalyst if fitted for leaks security and noise
• Check brake pads for wear or damage
• Check brake callipers for leaks and security
• Check foot brake shoes for wear or damage
• Inspect operation of wheel cylinders and report any leaks
• Visually check brake hydraulic system, pipes and hoses for any leaks, chafing and corrosion
• Check security of handbrake linkages and travel, lubricate and adjust if required
• Check Brake discs / drums for wear, cracks, corrosion and scoring/pitting
• Check Brake Fluid Level & Top Up if required
• Remove road wheels
• Check tyre size, tyre fitted to side wall instructions
• Check tyre condition, tread depth, (including spare)
• Check and adjust tyre pressures (including spare)
• Set wheel nut torque to manufacturer’s settings
• Check wheels for correct balance (including spare)
• Check windscreen wiper condition/operation
• Check rear wiper condition/operation (if fitted)
• Check windscreen washer operations and top up if required
• Reset vehicle service light where applicable (subject to data and tooling availability)
• Road test
• Visually check the radiator for leaks and corrosion
• Visually check the radiator cap
• Visually inspect the coolant pipes for cracks, blistering and security
• Test the Antifreze for strength, top up if necessary
• Visually inspect the expansion tank if fitted
• Manually check the operation of the cooling fan
• Manually inspect the fan / serpentine belts for cracking or stretching
• Remove and inspect the air filter
• Replace the air filter
• Visually inspect the spark plugs, replace if necessary (Service book dependent)
• Visually check the fuel filler cap for fit and operation
• Visually inspect the fuel lines for corrosion
• Visually check the propshaft and driveshafts for damage
• Manually check the driveshafts and propshaft for correct operation and wear
• Visually check the transmission fluid levels, top up if necessary
• Manually test the operation of the glow-plugs if fitted
• Visually inspect the main battery leads, grease if necessary
• Visually check the condition and operation of the spark plug leads (HT leads)
• Visually check the condition of the distributor cap and rotor arm if fitted
• Visually check for excess exhaust smoke and particulates
• Manually test the operation of the brake servo
• Visually check the operation of the ABS warning lamps
• Visually inspect the windscreen for cracks and stonechips
• Visually inspect the condition of the interior and exterior mirrors
• Manually check the operation of the interior and exterior mirrors
• Visually inspect the condition of the registration plates
• Remove and inspect the pollen filter
• Replace the pollen filter
• Manually check the front and rear seat-belts for correct operation, tears and rips
• Apply grease to all hinges, bonnet, boot / tailgate and doors
• Replace spark plugs
• Replace fuel filter
• Test alternator for operation and output
• Drain brake fluid
• Replace brake fluid with the correct grade
• Stamp service book
